Gorgan university began its activities in 1957 under the name Gorgan Forest and Pasture Institute. Currently, the university has over 3,000 students enrolled in 112 academic departments, which include 18 bachelor’s degrees, 58 master’s degrees, and 36 specialized doctoral degrees. Gorgan university consists of 9 faculties and 27 academic specializations.
In addition to its two main campuses (the Central Campus and the New Campus), the university has:
- 95 specialized laboratories and workshops
- 12 specialized fields
- 100 hectares of educational and research pastures
- 35 hectares of educational and research farms
- 3,000 hectares of educational and research forests
The facilities for theoretical, practical, and technical education have provided a lot for the students. In the field of agriculture, this university is ranked first in Iran.
